OLA Lesson Payment, Attendance Policy and Evaluations
Lesson Payments:
You have two options for lesson payment: (1) pay monthly for 8 months, (2) pay for the full year by Oct. 31 and receive a $48.00 discount. Monthly payment envelopes are sent home in your child’s lesson folder and should be returned to school by the due date on the envelope.
Every family will be asked to sign a payment contract stating they will fulfill their payment obligation in a timely manner. If you fall behind in payments for more than two months, an e-mail will be sent requesting immediate payment. If you are having financial difficulties, please contact me.Your privacy will be respected, and an alternative payment plan will be considered. No student will be turned away due to financial issues. I have limited scholarships from generous benefactors who wish to support our music program at OLA.
If you know someone who would like to be a scholarship benefactor,
please have them contact me at teamkern@me.com.
Attendance:
•Every student will have a guarantee of twenty-five (25) half-hour lessons during the school year.
•If lessons are canceled, or the student is absent from school, a make-up lesson will be scheduled AFTER the 25th scheduled week of lesson has been reached.
•Lesson make-ups are not offered in these situations: student forgets instrument or folder at home; student forgets to come to lesson, student forgets and arrives late.
•Lesson make-ups are offered if the student misses a lesson because of a classroom test or special project that prevents him/her from attending at the regular time.
•If, due to extended illness, 25 lessons are not completed by the end of May, you will only pay for the number of lessons your child received. If paying monthly, the final payment will be prorated by $16.00 x number of lessons not attended. If you paid for the full year in October, a refund of $16.00 x number of lessons not attended will be mailed home.
Student Evaluations:
•In place of progress reports, either a phone call or an e-mail will come home approximately every 3-6 weeks, or more frequently as needed. I feel that frequent contact between parent and teacher will help guide our young musicians to success. By working together, we can reinforce each others' efforts to instill good work habits: values like consistent daily practice, responsibility, honesty, and doing your best.
•In turn, frequent contact will allow you to ask questions about the music program, seek advise on how to help your child, and let me know about any concerns you have. Your child's best chance for success is in our hands, so let's work together!
